Hair Removal for the Novice Crossdresser and Sissy:

A Guide To Soft and Feminine Skin

By Miss Julia of FemPhone

For the novice crossdresser and sissy, body hair removal can be daunting. Yes, the novice crossdresser may have experience shaving facially, but even shaving becomes complicated when used to remove body hair. A five o’clock shadow on the legs is unacceptable to most women. When body hair is removed, it should stay removed for at least 24 hours. There are five common ways of hair removal, differing in terms of price, pain, and longevity: shaving, depilatories, epilators, waxing, and laser hair removal. For the crossdresser interested in being feminized but not removing body hair, it’s possible to camoflouge leg hair using hoisery.

Shaving the Crossdresser’s Legs (and other body parts)

A close shave happens when the skin and hair to be shaved are softened, the razor blades are new and non-dulled, and the shaving cream is packed with moisture. If the hair is excessively long (more than a quarter-inch in length), it’s best to clip them down. Eyebrow shapers/groomers, small tooth-combed razors sold in the beauty section of most drugstores are excellent for this. Do not use the shaper on the skin -- move the razor just above the skin to cut off the excess hair. In addition to removing hair at skin level, the shaving removes dead skin cells -- this leads to deliciously smooth skin. Excessive dead skin prematurely dulls the shaving blade so it’s best to use a body scrub/pumice stone/buffing sponge on the skin before shaving. This step should happen in a hot bath or shower -- the heat will soften both the skin and hair. The best shaving creams may not even be creams at all. In addition to the moisture-rich, extra-dry shaving creams available (best found in the woman’s hair removal section), thick hair conditioners work miracles. Again, women and ethnic brands suggested for dry/frizzy/curly hair are best.

The groin is shaved first, followed by the underarms and then the rest of the body. Some beauty editors advocate using the cheapest razor possible, disposable single-bladed razors. With only one blade, there’s less chance of shaving goo (used cream, hair, and skin cells) gunking up the shave. The Gillette Mach 3 brand of razors has multiple blades and a cult following. No matter the razor, when shaving pull the skin taut before applying the blades. Rinse the blades between each stroke. Depending on the coarseness of the hair and the quality of the blades, blades are replaced every 1-4 uses. Following these guidelines not only result in the smoothest and longest lasting shave possible, it also results in far fewer ingrown hairs. Barber shops offering beard shaving services is a good introduction to the art of a good shave.

Depilatories for Crossdressers and Sissies

The most famous depilatory brands in the United States are Nair and Neet. Depilatories are thick pastes applied to skin. After several minutes, the skin is thoroughly rinsed and down the drain goes the depilatory and hair. The main ingredient of most depilatories is a sulfide (sulfides are found include black hair relaxers and clogged drain openers). The sulfide eats away at and eventually dissolves the chemical bonds of the body hair. If left on too long, the depilatory can severely burn the skin -- many repeat users report a burning sensation of applying a depilatory to the skin. Follow the manufacturer’s guidelines when using. One of the loudest complaints against depilatories concern their intense, unpleasant chemical smell. Ingrown hairs are less likely with depilatories than with shaving. Depilatories remain somewhat popular because the skin is hair-free for 3-8 days.

Epilators & Crossdressers: Like Waxing, Only Cheaper

Like waxing, epilators are painful. An epilator is similiar to an electric razor. Where the electric razor has blades, the epilator has 2-3 rows of mini-tweezers to pull hair out by the root. Extremely popular in Europe and Asia, epilators are quickly gaining market share in the states as an excellent, cheap and DIY alternative to shaving and waxing. A high-end epilator runs 40-70 dollars on Amazon.com and lasts years. Because hair is removed by the root, it’s only necessary to use the epilator every couple of weeks in the beginning. Many users report using the epilator only once a month. The best epilators are used on dry, clean skin. To prevent ingrown hairs, a shower and scrub before hand is necessary. Most epilators come with an electric razor/hair clipper attachment to shorten excessively long hairs. Many epilator fans take a painkiller (OTC medication, a bracing drink, etc) before epilating to help dull the pain. Please consult with a doctor before doing so. For in-grown hairs after epilating there are in-grown hair bump treatments available in the shaving aisle of most drugstores. Continuing to exfoliate the body during showers will also decrease the number of in-grown hairs.

The Sissy’s Guide To Waxing

The salon worker’s top complaint about waxing is the number of customers who come in for a wax (brazilian, full-body, etc) smelly, dirty or gross. Though a wax is decidedly non-sexual, the salon worker comes in contact with your intimate parts and it’s best to schedule the wax at a time when you’ll be as fresh-smelling as possible. Take a shower before-hand and scrub everywhere.

Waxing can be expensive. Many users report spending upwards of $150 a month for full body waxing. Depending on the speed of the wax technician, waxing once a month could take as little as one and a half hours.

If seduced by an advertisement of a painless wax, it helps to get details on the “painless” part. During the typical wax, hair is removed when a hot wax is applied to the a part of the body. The wax tech then covers the wax with a piece of cloth. After making sure the cloth and wax are firmly adhered to the body, the wax tech rips the cloth off, along with the wax and body hairs. This hurts. A lot. It helps to take a painkiller before the procedure; there will still be some sensation. For the hard to reach places on the back, chest, or tops of toes, waxing is the most efficient way to remove hair. For the cost-concious, visiting a salon for back hair removal and using another hair removal technique at home is a great compromise.

Laser Hair Removal for Crossdressers and Sissies

Though commonly believed to be permanent, the FDA does not allow laser hair removal to be advertised as permanent. Laser hair removal does result in a huge reduction of hair. Having the most longevity of the hair removal techniques discussed here, laser hair removal is also the most initially expensive. Depending on the body part, 3-12 treatments might be needed. In 2007, the American Association of Plastic Surgeons said the average price of one laser hair removal treatment to be $429. Many hair removal centers offer buy one, get one free offers.

Not all crossdressers or sissies are ideal candidates for laser hair removal. The laser used in laser hair removal targets melanin, the pigment that darkens skin and hair. In recent years, lasers have been developed that are effective on users with dark hair and skin. Dark hair and light skin is the best combination for a laser hair removal candidate. As with choosing a plastic surgeon, please get referrals from customers with similar hair/skin combinations and do immense research. Because so many factors contribute to the efficacy of laser hair removal (technician skill, laser, the customer’s appearance, and medical conditions), there are few,if any money-back guarantees.

The Happy Hiruste Crossdresser

If crossdressing and feminization falls under hobby, many crossdressers/sissies prefer to keep and disguise their body hair. On the legs, this is done by donning a pair of skin tone, opaque tights and then wearing another pair of sheer panty hose on top of that. Some costume shops/dance shops sell skin-tone opaque full length body suits.

For the novice crossdresser and sissy, body hair removal can be intimidating. Expertise quickly develops and the crossdresser in time finds pleasure in both the feminine ritual and the resulting smooth, soft, sensuous skin. Written By:
